Nick Powell has been named the Stoke City Player of the Month for September 2021 after the announcement made earlier on Wednesday. Ex-Crewe Alexandra man Powell was revealed as the recipient of the best player award on the back of the polls from the Stoke City supporters.
Stoke City failed to finish in the playoff spots last season but Powell was able to maintain a high level of performance throughout the season thereby finishingas the topscorer in the Potters’ rank. The utility attacker won the monthly best player award three times last season and he has been able to win his first monthly best player award of the new season. It was stated that Powell narrowly beat defensive stalwart Harry Souttarin the poll conducted for the award.
Powell, 27, won the award after scooping a little over 40% of the total votes. He missed some English Championship games due to injury but he was able to slot back into the Stoke City XI easily on the back of his return from injury last month.
Stoke City talisman Nick Powell scored two goals plus an assist in August 2021 before he picked up an injury. Upon his return from the injury, Powell scored in three straight matches to help his team to two wins and a draw in the month of September.
Powell scored the opening goal of the game during the Carabao Cup third round win over Premier League team Watford before he sealed three crucial points with an expertly taken free-kick from 35 yards against newly promoted Championship team Hull City in the league. He then scored the opener in the away game against Preston North End.
