Stoke City boss Michael O’Neill has suffered from severalinjuries to his players throughout the course of the current English Championship season. The injury problems have ultimately affected the Potters who are resigned to finishing in mid-table when they end their campaign against playoff spot recipients Bournemouth this weekend.
Ahead of the Bournemouth game at the weekend, Stoke City have 13 players on their injury list after two players joined the list on Thursday. Steven Fletcher and Harry Souttarboth pulled out of Stoke City training on Thursday with respective injuries thereby increasing the number of players on the injury list at the club.
Ex-Wigan Athletic player Nick Powell has been one of the shining lights for Stoke City this season and he’s on course to miss the trip to face Bournemouth as a result of a groin problem.
Powell was ruled out by O’Neill during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Cherries game. According to him, he won’t be able to make the Stoke City squad for the game at the Vitality Stadium.
The trio of Powell, Souttar and Fletcher joins ten others in a crowded treatment room at Stoke City. O’Neill said the duo of Souttar and Fletcher pulled out of training with stiffness and tightness.
O’Neill says Souttar and Fletcher will go for scans as he ruled them out of the game at Bournemouth.
The other injured players are Angus Gunn (foot), James Chester (knee), Nathan Collins (foot), Tashan Oakley-Boothe (back), Jack Clarke (ankle), James McClean (foot), Morgan Fox (hamstring), Tyrese Campbell (knee), Joe Allen (hamstring and calf) and Alfie Doughty (foot).
