STOKE CITY VS LEICESTER CITY: THE FOXES PREDICTED LINE-UP FOR CUP CLASH
Posted on January 28, 2021 in Stoke
Brendan Rodgers and his Leicester City side travel away to Stoke City in their FA Cup clash as he looks to secure qualification to the next round. Rodgers is expected to make a host of changes to his side as he hands rest to his key players and will also likely hand some playing time to several of his fringe players.
Both James Maddison and Jamie Vardy are injured and are automatically out of the tie and there are more first-team players expected to sit out the fixture as they prepare for the second half of the Premier League season.
Also, Cengiz Ünder and Ricardo Pereira have been ruled out of the game as both players are still nursing their respective ankle injuries. Caglar Soyuncu, who has been missed by Leicester’s side after suffering a groin injury against Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League is expected to start the game after making a return from injury in a cameo appearance in the win against Newcastle in their last Premier League outing.
Daniel Amartey could come into the team and may likely partner Soyuncu at the heart of the Foxes defense with Johnny Evans expected to be rested after featuring in all of their three games after Christmas. Wesley Fofana is another great option that could be slotted into central defense.
James Justin, who has played the full 90 minutes in each of Leicester’s last 17 games is also expected to be rested. Timothy Castagne could be the man to replace him at right-back. Wilfred Ndidi and Youri Tielemans could be rested and replaced by Hamza Choudhury and Papy Mendy. Ayoze Perez could come in at right wing with Marc Albright expected to be on the left.
Predicted Leicester Lineup: Ward; Castagne; Amartey; Soyuncu; Thomas; Choudhury; Mendy; Perez; Praet; Albrighton; Iheanacho.
