Stoke City’s winter signing Danny Batth is determined to transform the club’s fortunes despite an unfruitful start to his career with the Staffordshire outfit. The experienced centre-back joined the Potters from Wolves on a permanent basis in January and he has since directly made the lineup with the surprise of the captain’s armband.
Stoke had been scoring with regularity during the opening months of the campaign where their poor defensive organisation cost them points. Thereafter, they managed to make an improvement on the defensive scale under Gary Rowett but that however reduced the efficiency upfront which contributed to the manager’s sacking.
Under Nathan Jones, the Potters have not experienced the best of starts with five defeats from the previous six matches across all competitions and this has dropped them 12 points off the top six positions. Nonetheless, the club they have the slender chance of making a late push for the playoffs, should they build up a winning run starting from the Wigan game on Wednesday night. The Potters can still expect a tough game, as the Latics have attained 80 percent of their points tally at home.
